halloween comes early
Today at work they had a costume contest. I decided to come to work in my workout gear so I could workout after work and say I was dressed up as a runner. No one commented on what I wore. I think I can say it would be fine for me to wear workout clothes everyday to work. Good to know!

reading
I've always had a passion for reading. I'm pretty sure one of the main reasons that I wear glasses is because I would fall asleep with my book in my hands. I just could never put a book down, and still can't! My reading is actually helping me to workout right now. I take my kindle ( I love my kindle!!) to the gym with a freshly downloaded book. I sit at a bike and begin reading. I zone out and keep pedaling faster and poof 45 minutes dissapears. I have 19 books on my kindle currently, and I am ready to start donwloading some more! I love how reading can transfer me to a new place. I finished our book club book, Say you're one of them, and although it did transform me to africa, I did not love the book. I am dying to talk to book club about it, but of course I read ahead, and we are talking about another book tomorrow. Yup book club is at my house tomorrow, which had me thinking about reading!

everybody's working for the weekend
Friday was pretty low key.....
Saturday, I woke up with a migraine (probably from the wine that Dave and I drank on friday night) and decided to stay home and watch the MICHIGAN WOLVERINES, which was rough b/c they lost :(
Then at night we went to dinner at amy's bf, ben's, house. It was a reall nice dinner. I was really impressed with amy's cooking abilities.
Today, I went to the ballard farmer's market, and then shopping and chilling with farah...all makes for a great weekend, not ready to start the week, boo week!

How am I supposed to know if you're high if you won't let me touch you...
Dave and I went to an awesome FREE concert thursday night. I am not huge into going to concerts, but I'm really glad we went to this one. We wanted to make sure that we would get into the concert so we arrived early. We got to the crocodile like an hour before doors were supposed to open, and the line was pretty short. We took this as a cue to go get some yummy pizza and come back. When we got back, the line was a bit longer, but not too bad. It's hard going to a concert on a work night. The opener, DJ lord, did not get on until about 9 pm. I was like hmm we got here at 8, when is this guy going to come on? But, he was pretty good, and once he started playing, I had a huge adrenoline rush. We danced to old school songs, and I knew most of the words to the songs, so it was fun. The Hold Steady came on around, maybe 11, which is pass my bed time, but I was still pumped. They played a couple of songs from their new albulm, and a couple of older songs that I LOVED! People in the crowd were really getting into the groove of the songs. We were next to this guy who was probably about a foot taller then me, and he kept pretending he was the lead singer of the band and jumping around, which led to his arm hitting me in the head, and me saying move the fuck over! Other than that, our night was really fun! I was exhausted friday morning, but I would definitely do it again!!

Great weekend
I've been feeling a bit sluggish since I have been back from Italy. I am glad that I had a great weekend to remind me of how much fun I can have in seattle. Friday night we went out for Brad's 27th birthday. Dave and I decided to take the bus from ballard, which runs once an hour through U-district to capital hill. When the bus was heading through the U-district, 3 college freshman got on, and had a very amusing conversation that went something like this:
freshman 1:"So you're from ohio? does it rain in ohio?"
freshman 2: "yes, we get rain"
freshman 3:"Do they have grass in ohio?"
freshman 2: "yes, we have grass"
freshman 1:"What about olive garden? do you have olive garden?"
freshman 2: "yes, we have olive garden?"
and finally they talked about football and how they didn't know who the buckeyes were and weather they were professional or college. Consider udub has played OSU this was pretty funny. These girls made it seem like being from Ohio was like being from pluto or jupiter. They cracked me up and made me glad I was not a udub student.
After our hillarious bus ride, and a quick stop to buy the birthday boy a happy birthday cupcake, we headed to elysian brewery. The night was a lot of fun, and the only thing missing was Jen, who got sick, and couldn't make it out. Other than that, we had a good dinner and some drinks at elysian brewery, then headed over to several different bars (moe, six arms, linda's, stumbling monk, to name a few...). I was passing out by stumbling monk, but had a really fun time celebrating brad's birthday.
The next morning, I woke myself up at 10:05 am, and forced myself to get dressed and head to brunch. I carpooled with maureen for brunch at rosebud with nat, maureen, amy, and amy's two new seattlite friends (shellie and sarah). We found a great parking spot but the meter wasn't working so I paid for parking twice. I was in desperate need of coffee, and sat down right in time to say coffee please!! Once coffee came and the new seattlites arrived, we had a really fun brunch. Then I headed home to relax before my night out.

Busy times ahead
Another month with busy times ahead. So far all the busy things have been good things. This last weekend we went to new jersey for chris/kristen's wedding, and spent some time with dave's family. It was a good weekend, although I got a bit sick!
This week, have a trainer appt tomorrow, then haircut, and then leaving for michigan. In michigan, we will be celebrating zaydie's 80th birthday, my cousin miriam's wedding, and janna/xiaohan's wedding!! Then, we come back sunday, and leave thursday for italy, right from work....there will be a lot of packing, and unpacking and planning, and seeing people...
In other random news, dave and I will be in rome over rosh hashannah, and we just found out we can go to the synagogues for the high holidays! It will be quite an amazing experience!

working out
So, I weighed myself today and it turns out that I've lost 21 pounds since my last weigh in at the doctors, aka the most I have ever weighed in my life!! This makes me feel really good. All that hard work is paying off!! I need to lose about 8 more pounds to reach my initial goal! :)
I worked out with my personal trainer today and he gave me a good routine to follow. I'm going to try it out starting tomorrow and we'll see how it goes.....He made me happy because he told me I was looking trim.

update on the family
So far my dad is doing alright. His heart is pumping at a normal rate, which is huge!! However, he does have a ton of blockage in all of his other arteries and will most likely need more stents. hopefully he will continue his new healthy eating and this will help reduce any further complications.
In other news, my bubbi Cyrille, is now in a rehab facility. Rehab is supposed to help her be able to walk a bit, and then she can go back home. She really hates her rehab facility, a lot! She has called all of my michigan family members and asked for a ride home and for them to get her out of there. I was able to talk to her today, and she sounded like she was miserable! she told me all she wanted was to go home, but no one will take her home. I hope that her spirits are lifted and she can get out soon!!
As for me......I've just been taking it easy this week. Nothing too exciting. Work is pretty boring. Went to happy hour with natalie downtown at a yummy new place downtown with FREE PARKING (YAY!). Also, Dave and I took Maureen out for a belated birthday dinner and ice cream. Both were very fun!

reality
Dave and I were married on may 24th. It was the most amazing day of life so far. It was beautiful and fun and went by in a blur. After the wedding we spent a day with family and were then off to the beautiful oregon coast. The oregon coast was also truly amazing and just a step out of our real lives, but of course the real world did call us back......
June 1st we came back to work and reality, so to speak. I was hoping for only good things in our lives together, but someone out there had another plan, and we made an emergency trip to michigan. My dad, after 52 years of not working out and eating only red meat, had had a heart attack. A major heart attack!! I would say other than my wedding, this has been a very hard year. Since we got to michigan we were travelling between one hospital and another. My dad was at henry ford in detroit and my bubbi at beaumont in berkley. Oh yes, my grandmother (bubbi) is still in the hospital, so it was not the happiest visit. Of course my father did not realize the severity and asked dave and I both several times if we had ate arabic food, and what friends we had seen. No to both questions dad, dave and I left work not to socialize and eat food, but to see you after your MAJOR HEART ATTACK....Oh, and by the way, no you are not going back to work monday, maybe the million hours you work every week helped aid in causing your heart attack.... Anyway, my dad kept saying he felt like a million bucks, and he must have been right, b/c he was released back home from the hospital on saturday (thank g-d!), but hopefully he will change his lifestyle...he has ate healthy one day, and that's a start, but it's hard to change 50+ years of unhealthy living. I will worry about him, but after I go and see bubbi today at beaumont (hopefully she's getting out soon too!!) ,and pack my bag, I'm heading back to seattle...
In a somewhat related word, I would like to thank all my amazing seattle friends for their offered help, airport rides, and amazing deli trays, Dave and I are just both so lucky to have good friends and family that care about us!

frustrated
Today was a frustrating day. Basically without going into too many details, I want my wedding day to be about dave and I joing our lives together. It is also about our families but not about other people's future weddings. I am extremely happy for people that I know and love to be going through the same thing, but that day is for Dave and I, and it is our one time to be selfish.
In happier news I went to a really fun concert with Dave and Natalie this weekend at Neumos. It was tons of fun! I love the chill venue, that it wasn't too crowded, was not smoky, and was indoors. I had a lot of fun! although I felt old because I was definitely ready to go home at the end of the night. Our weekend was super crazy! We bought a brand new beautiful Toyota Yaris which is amazing. After the yaris purchase we went to Dalia/Mitch's havdallah dinner, and then that concert. I want to just relax my birthday is coming up maybe I'll relax on my birthday.

motivation
I have seriously lacking some motivation today. This week has been crazy with tons of meetings in work, and today with minimal meetings I have minimal motivation. I'm so looking forward to the weekend. My new goal for the week is to workout 4 or 5 days a week. Last week I worked out 4 days. I worked out 3 days this week so far, and maybe I will workout tonight. This weekend we are preparing for superbowl sunday! Yay, do you care about the superbowl? I don't really care who wins, but am still excited to watch!

thank g-d for the weekend
this week has really really sucked...Work was awful. I was arguing back and forth with a group that I support and I had to pull in my manager, team leader, and their senior manager to get something resolved. Their senior manager is meeting with them monday morning, so this should make my next week about as awful as last week. Also, we received an email that layoffs will commence shortly, so this made me tense. Aside from work, my papa is in the hospital, and that added to my crappy week. I was itching for the weekend. The weekend where I could have fun and leave work at work. So far so good. We went to a game night at stef/joel's which was a ton of fun. Then, we went to maureen's delayed housewarming/holiday party last night. Today, we are grabbing brunch with jen/brad and erica/chris. So all in all a great weekend with friends that allowed me to put aside my work stuff until tomorrow.
